KCLA & GVSU-HTM Golf Outing Scheduled for Friday, August 21

This year’s golf outing has been organized to raise funds for both GVSU’s HT program and The Kent County Lodging Association's (KCLA) student scholarship fund. The money generated will be used by both organizations to furnish numerous scholarships to students from GVSU and other Michigan Universities hospitality programs to support their academic and professional development in our industry. We sincerely appreciate your support in this endeavor.

Warmest Regards,

  • Paul Stansbie, HTM Department Chair
  • Mike Donnelly, Event Chair, KCLA

Pure Michigan Funding Update

The time has come to go to the phones, send emails, and fax letters and petitions to all members of Michigan's House of Representatives in support of the Pure Michigan Funding Package, (HB 5017-18 and HB 5088-89).

With one member abstaining, the House Tourism Committee unanimously voted these four bills out of committee with a favorable recommendation this morning.  The bills now rest on the floor of the House awaiting full debate and a vote.

It's up to everyone receiving this and future emails to help send this bill to the Senate with a strong bipartisan vote.  We're looking for a landslide - and only you can help make that happen!  Pass this and all future emails on to industry friends, engage your entire staff, get you family to help make phone calls.

If you're new to such efforts, expect an email from us first soon providing you concise reasons why these bills need to be passed.  If you don't already know the name of your State Representative, we'll provide you a link to easily find their name and contact information.

For those of you that are already well-versed an email, and follow it up with a phone call right away!
